Sounds like Silver has froze over. We'll see what next weeks temps do. Hopefully the lakes seal up and stay that way until Spring.

Well Gissert you weren't kidding about current I have never seen my lake freeze so missed up I had to do a lot of walking the whole west side of the lake had maybe 1 inch from shore out 40 feet the whole lenght of the lake pretty much and of course my property is on that side so no getting on the lake there I had to get on from the east side witch is kind of funny seeing all the springs are on that side of the lake, but made it out 1 to 4 inches and a the norm was 3. And fishing stunk I don't know if all that water has done somthing to my fish but they just wern't in there normal hideing grounds and the ones I did find did not want to bit really had me scratching my head. But thanks for the heads up on the current Gissert.

Not sure if it was the current, or they just are not quite ready to freeze. My lake has big chunks of open water, and is not freezing in its normal pattern.

We really need some more temps 0f 10 degrees or cloder.

Yep, it sure looks good. The large open spot on S. Turtle capped last night. With this wind, it is hooting and groaning pretty good today.

Hey Lights,

What part of Dead Lake are they driving out on? I've got a cabin up there and am going up in a week. Thanks.

We are on the north side of the main body of water. Dirrectly across from Indian Bay. It is a private sportsmans club(United Sportsmans club. We have are own landing that we go out of.

What part of the lake are you on? Have you ever fished for sunnies in the winter? I haven't but I am going to this year. Everyone I now just goes after the eyes.

Mark

I am on the far east bay. I have tried to catch sunnies for years and have had little success. I did hear last year that they were catching them between the rock pile and the landing just to the east of you. I haven't tried it yet, but if the conditions will allow, I will this year. Be careful out there, Dead can be pretty tricky in the winter. A couple of years ago on the 15th of January there was open water along the reed island just to the south west of you. There was no snow, so I think the sun heated up the dark, shallow bottom and opened it up. Good luck fishing. I may try it this week.
